Solar Flare Alert! Firefox Extension Plug-in

After noticing there was no plug-in or extension for Firefox that would notify people in real time of the latest solar flares, I decided to create Solar Flare Alert! This extension will allow you to see the latest solar flares as they happen and notify you instantly. The software places a little panel in your status bar and displays the latest solar flares as they happen. Here is what you will see when it has been installed:

 What you are seeing in the image above is that there was a B class solar flare of magnitude 9.9 on Feb 09, 2012 at 8:46 PM local time. Next you see "Cur: B2.9" this is the current X-ray flux and is updated every minute. The icon on the left will flash different colors depending on the solar flare class, so if say it was an M class flare, the icon would flash red, or if it was an X class solar flare, the most powerful, it would flash a dark purple color notifying you instantly.

If you right-click on the status bar panel, you will see a menu pop-up that allows you to view the 10 most recent solar flares and the magnitudes as well as date for each of them as shown in the following image:
